Where am I going with this? We are going to look at your roofs. The other day while out doing a 9K walk-run in the cold and snow in our Cold Spring township; I looked up at the houses and barn roofs. I saw the roofs are solid snow covered while others had small or large patches of bare roof clear spots.
What does this mean? Heat is escaping from the roofs in certain places and melting the snow. How about your own roof? Heat or are conditioning is going through the roof is energy waste. Check them or replace while at it. Energy experts recommend insulating attics and walls to R-46 instead of the usual flimsy R-14-18. No matter if I the northern or southern states, insulation for attics, walls etc. will pay for itself in energy savings in 2-3 years or less. Contact several local insulators for details and bids using a foam type today, also, let three window contractors look at and bid on your windows. Be a good manager of your house(s) and barn(s) with energy. You will stay more comfortable and save money. You will be glad you did.
